mental health
Providing psychological and therapy services to facilitate growth.
Often, the mental health struggles experienced by people with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) are impactful and painful while being overlooked or dismissed.
As part of REVEL’s mission to meet the various needs of teens and adults with autism, we have Dr. Fred Bernard, a licensed clinical psychologist, on our team who provides psychotherapy and other clinical psychological services for people with autism and those who support them.
“In-house”
Services
All REVELers and staff benefit from our “In-house” services.
The clinical psychologist provides support by:
- Meeting with REVELers who can benefit from more extensive support.
- Holding “office hours” during which REVELers can visit the psychologist’s office to talk through any difficulties they may be having.
- Accompanying REVELers during their daily activities when possible and providing support along the way.
- Consulting with the staff members at REVEL and providing a clinical psychological perspective.
- Hosting training sessions with staff on relevant mental health topics.
- Providing free 1-2 hour workshops for parents of REVELers (dates and topics for workshops to be posted in the future).
Individual Psychotherapy and Family Therapy/ Parent Coaching Services
Clients or their parents/ legal guardians can request services and undergo an intake process with the staff psychologist. You or your child do not have to participate in any other REVEL programs in order to receive individual therapy, family therapy, or parent coaching.
Individual Psychotherapy
Our clinical psychologist provides developmentally-informed individual psychotherapy to clients to help them form a deeper understanding of themselves and others in a way that helps them to live more freely and achieve their goals.
We highly encourage clients to attend sessions in person; however, we may be able to provide remote therapy.
FEE:
$200 for a 50 minute therapy session. A sliding scale may be available for clients with financial need. We do not accept insurance, but we can provide detailed receipts (“superbills”) for clients with out-of-network benefits that you can present to your insurance provider. The initial 20 minute consultation is free of charge.
WE ACCEPT:
- SLS and DD Medicaid Waivers
- Mill Levy
- Private Pay

Family Therapy/
Parent Coaching
Providing help for people with autism or IDDs is most effective when:
- they and those on their support team are working together, and
- the thoughts, feelings, and memories evoked in parents by the challenges of parenting are given time and consideration in their own right.
Sessions can occur with only parents or together as a family.
We highly encourage clients to attend sessions in person if they can, but we may be able to provide remote therapy. For parent coaching, both in-person and remote sessions are generally appropriate. At this time, remote therapy and parent coaching can only be offered to individuals residing in Colorado.
